Dear Your Overseas Dream Home Reader,
There’s a lot of value in exploring the hidden gems of the world…where you rarely see another foreigner, nobody speaks your language, and things just aren’t “set up” for tourists.
Adventures like this, outside of your comfort zone, can be life-changing and are certainly worth seeking out.
But sometimes you just want something easy.
You want to go to a place where you fly in and, from the moment you step off the plane, you are relaxed because everything is easy, and you know your every need will be taken care of.
By the time you’re actually sitting by the pool, lazing on the beach, or soaking in a hot spring, your relaxation only increases. And you don’t have a care in the world.
Popular resort towns around the world offer this…and often we only visit them on vacation. But they can make for a great location for a second home overseas…or even a full-time base.
In fact, I live in one myself for part of the year. As you know, I spend the winter months at my base in Cabo, Mexico. It’s a location that’s easy to get to, I have a golf course on my doorstep, and the weather is perfect for me.
Check out these properties my researchers have found in resort towns around the world.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands
Listing Price: €85,000 ($99,270)
The Canary Islands, an archipelago off the west coast of Africa belonging to Spain, are well-known as a vacation spot for Europeans, who come year-round for the mild climate, the beautiful beaches, a plethora of activities on land and in the water, and a tourism infrastructure that ensures foreign visitors are taken care of 24/7.
Tenerife is the largest island of the chain, and many resort areas line the yellow and black volcanic sand beaches along its coast. You can enjoy golf, amusement parks, and more on a family holiday.
In the capital of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which has a large historic quarter and renowned shopping and dining, is a four-bedroom apartment with an ocean view.
Budapest, Hungary
Listing Price: 33,000,000 Hungarian forints ($110,324)
Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is probably not a place you think of when it comes to resort towns. But this Eastern European metropolis is well-known for thermal baths and natural springs resorts. In fact, its nickname is the “City of Spas.”
The waters, rich in dissolved minerals, are said to have medicinal properties, which made them popular even back in Roman times. The Ottomans, who ruled the city in the 16th and 17th centuries, built baths that are still in use today.
Of the millions of visitors to the thermal baths draw each year, some come for therapeutic treatments…others for a warm soak and relaxation…and yet others for livelier night-time swim parties.
A luxury one-bedroom apartment, fully furnished, with an American-style kitchen is available now. It’s near a large park, as well as cafes and restaurants, with the city center reachable by public transport.
Manzanillo, Mexico
Listing Price: 3,113,000 Mexican pesos ($154,901)
On Mexico’s central Pacific coast, the resort area of Manzanillo offers all sorts of activity. There are calm beaches good for swimming…places to dive and snorkel among shipwrecks and coral reefs…and you can also go offshore fishing for marlin and other big game fish.
The surrounding area is naturally beautiful, with jungle-covered mountains cascading down to palm-tree lined golden-sand beaches. Manzanillo is a busy port, but the historic center is tranquil and laidback, and there is a section of town that is geared towards tourism, with lots of resorts, hotels, and condos.
A two-bedroom, luxury condo with a panoramic view of Santiago Bay, in the main resort section of Manzanillo, is available. The community has a pool and lush garden area.
Wishing you good real estate investing,
