VIDEO: Six Weeks, Five Countries—Where I’m Scouting Next

I’m about to set off on a whirlwind six-week scouting trip to dig into incredible new opportunities for our club.

Tomorrow, I’ll be setting off from my home in Cabo to meet with developers on the East Cape of the Baja Peninsula. And soon after, I’ll be heading to the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica…then to Guadalajara and Lake Chapala in western Mexico…and ultimately back across the Atlantic to Portugal and Ireland…

I’ll be spending much of the next six weeks on the road, digging into new opportunities for our club in Baja California, northwestern Costa Rica, Lake Chapala, northern Portugal and beyond. I share the full details in this video. Click to view.

I’ve got a lot planned over the next six weeks…

Let’s start in Baja California.

Cabo has been the site of some of the best deals in the history of our RETA group (details below). Now, the “path of progress” is extending out from Cabo to destinations like La Ventana on the Sea of Cortez coast.

That’s where I’m heading…

I’m spending four days with boots on the ground with developer contacts who’ve banked significant land on the Sea of Cortez coast of the Baja Peninsula. I’m excited to hear what they have planned and whether there’s a potential RETA-grade opportunity here for us.

A photo I snapped on my last scouting trip to the East Cape region of Baja California a few months back. The landscapes in the East Cape are majestic. A path of progress is pushing north along this coast from Los Cabos. I’ll be digging into opportunities with best-in-class developers who banked land here.

Next Monday, I’ll be flying to Liberia airport in northwestern Costa Rica and spending eight days scouting destinations along this country’s stunning Pacific coast…

This region of Costa Rica is filled with opportunity. Demand here is incredible. We’re seeing more and more flights coming from North America. And the best opportunities will be in coastal destinations located within 90 minutes’ drive from booming Liberia airport.

That’s where I’m focusing my scouting…

I’m meeting best-in-class developers with potential projects in the works around the Papagayo peninsula…the renowned surf and beach town of Tamarindo…the upmarket beach and marina town of Playa Flamingo…

I’ll also be checking in on our past members-only deal in Playa Flamingo. In March 2024, I brought RETA members an off-market deal here to own incredible luxury homes a short walk to two beaches and the brand-new marina that anchors the town. This was an amazing deal.

In October, the developer told me that two-bed homes similar to those that RETA members could buy for an off-market price of $286,800 were listing for $339,000…an uplift of $52,200 in six months!

After Guanacaste, I’m heading to Ponte Verde in Florida to address the Oxford Club’s Investment U conference. It’s a huge privilege to be invited to the conference once again and it shows the wide reach and impact of our club that they want to hear about our latest research.

Then, after Florida, I’ll be staying at my home in Guadalajara for a few weeks, and using that as a base to scout Lake Chapala. This is one of Mexico’s oldest and most established expat destinations. I’m interested to see if there’s opportunity there for us today…

Afterward, it’s back to Europe where one of my first stops will be the town of Caminha in northern Portugal, my #1 destination to own globally in 2025. (Check our full 2025 RETA index for the complete list of destinations.)

I’ll be digging into the best listings currently on the market in Caminha and sharing them with you. And I’ll be checking in on renovations on the historic mansion I bought there late last year. I’ll share a few photos…

As I say, it’s a whirlwind six weeks of scouting. And I expect to uncover some incredible new opportunities for our club.

P.S. Our past deals in Cabo…

As I say, Cabo has been the site of some of the best deals in the history of our group. Our track record here is remarkable. Some brief examples…

  • $122,700 in six months: In May 2022 we had our RETA-only deal at Monte Rocella with off-market pricing from $234,600 for two-bedroom, two-bath ocean-view condos. Six months after our deal opened a two-bed condo of 1,215 square feet that RETA members could buy for $274,800 was listing for $397,500. That’s a $122,700 uplift just a few months after we had our deal. And recently I saw a pricelist showing a two-bed ocean view condo in Monte Rocella for $437,000. (I bought in Monte Rocella.)
  • $176,000 boost: We had our Cabo Costa deal in August 2021. A similar condo to those that had the RETA-only price of $249,000 listed in December 2023 for $499,000. That’s an uplift of $250,000. I bought a condo in Cabo Costa myself. (I haven’t sold mine.)
  • $313,844 uplift: I bought my two-bed, two-bath condo alongside RETA members in Copala in the 5-star Quivira resort in April 2015. The RETA price was $336,156. In August 2022 a local broker contacted me to see if I wanted to sell my condo for around $600,000. And I’ve since seen a similar condo listing for $650,000.
